Zbyněk Baladrán (1973, Prag), vertrat bei der letzten Biennale in Venedig die Tschechische Republik und gehört derzeit zu deren bedeutendsten internationalen Künstlern.

Sein erstes Solo-Projekt in Deutschland, The Measures Taken, wird vom 3. bis 30. März 2014 im Kunstraum München präsentiert. Die Ausstellung befasst sich mit den Chancen der künstlerischen Produktion und Methoden als Instrumente der totalen Erneuerung, der drastischen Veränderung der Gesellschaft, aber auch der Möglichkeit ihres Scheiterns.

Ironie und das Thema des Versagens sind bereits im Titel der Ausstellung enthalten, der von Bertold Brechts Drama The Measures Taken (Die Maßnahme) stammt; ein Theaterstück, das neben der Aufhebung der traditionellen Dualität von Bühne und Zuschauer die radikale Veränderung einer Welt zum Thema hat, die unmittelbar davor ist, die Protagonisten von Verhandlungen und Kompromissen zu akzeptieren.

Ausgangspunkt für die verschiedenen methodischen Ansätze, die in dieser Ausstellung zum Tragen kommen, sind Texte und Arbeiten von mehreren Autoren wie J. P. Eckermann, Sigmund Freud, Bertold Brecht und Dziga Vertov, die zum Teil von Zbyněk Baladrán neu bearbeitet wurden.

Zbyněk Baladrán (Prag, 1973 in Prag), ist Autor, bildender Künstler und Kurator. Er studierte Kunstgeschichte an der  Karls-Universität in Prag von 1992-1996 und von 1997-2003 visuelle Kommunikation an der Prager Akademie der bildenden Künste. Er ist einer der Mitbegründer und Kuratoren der Galerie display, die 2001 in Prag gegründet wurde und 2007 mit tranzit.cz in tranzitdisplay fusionierte.. Zusammen mit Vít Havranek kuratierte er Monument toTransformation, ein dreijähriges Forschungsprojekt zur sozialen Transformation, das im Jahr 2009 an der Prager City Gallery präsentiert wurde und bis 2013 an mehrere Stationen in Europa gereist ist. Baladrán zählte 2010 zum Kuratorenteam (tranzit.org ) für die Manifesta 8,  Murcia, Spanien. Seine Arbeiten sind inzwischen Teil verschiedener internationaler privater und öffentlicher Sammlungen.

Zbyněk Baladrán (Prague, 1973) represented at the last Venice Biennale the Czech Republic and is currently one of her most recognized international artists. His first solo project in Germany, The Measures Taken, will be shown in Munich from March 3^rd to 30^th, 2014 at the Kunstraum München. The exhibition focuses on the prospects of artistic production and methods as instruments of total renovation, a dramatic change of society, but also the possibility of its failure. Irony and the issue of failure are already included in the title of the exhibition taken from Bertold Brecht’s drama

The Measures Taken (Die Maßnahme), a play that not only deals with the abolition of the traditional duality between stage and audience, but also with the radical change in a world that is teetering on the edge of accepting the protagonists of negotiation and compromise. Starting point for the different methodological approaches used in the exhibition are texts and works of several authors such as Johann Peter Eckermann, Sigmund Freud, Bertold Brecht, and Dziga Vertov, which were in part re-edited by Zbyněk Baladrán.

Zbyněk Baladrán (born 1973 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is an author, visual artist and curator. He studied art history at the Charles University Philosophical Faculty in Prague from 1992-1996, and from 1997-2003 at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of visual communication. He is one of the co-founders and a curator of Galerie display, which was established in Prague in 2001, and in 2007 merged with tranzit.cz into tranzitdisplay, where he continues to oversee the exhibition program. He is also the co-curator, with Vít Havranek, of the project and exhibitions Monument to Transformation, a 3-year research project on social transformation that was presented in 2009 at the Prague City Gallery, and which traveled to several other locations in Europe later this year. Baladrán was also a part of the team of curators (tranzit.org) for Manifesta 8, Murcia, Spain in 2010. His artworks can be characterized as the search for links between the past and itsconstruction in relation to the prevailing epistemological patterns. His works are represented in various international private and public collections.
